Briargrove is a neighborhood situated in Houston, Texas, United States, near Uptown Houston. It has evolved into one of the most popular neighborhoods in West Houston.

Briargrove was established in the 1950s with one-story ranch homes built in the 1950s and 1960s. Deed restrictions in the neighborhood were modified in 1986 to allow for 1 1?2-story and two-story homes. Afterwards some of the older ranch homes were torn down and replaced with newer 2-story homes. It means that new construction homes are now to be seen all over Briargrove.

It’s almost impossible to talk about Briargrove without first mentioning Briargrove Elementary School. The first years of a child’s life are the most important in their development, and the parents of the students at Briargrove Elementary know that better than anyone. In operation since 1958, it is known as a “neighborhood school” because of the hands-on involvement of Briargrove parents in its scholastic and social events. Because of that, the school is consistently at capacity, so much so that HISD is building St. George Place Elementary School to relieve Briargrove Elementary School. Briargrove Elementary is also getting a new campus, which is scheduled to open in fall 2007.

Briargrove is zoned to the aforementioned Briargrove Elementary School and Grady Middle School, while high school students may choose between Lee High School, Lamar High School and Westside High School.

Most Briargrove public school students go to Lamar High School, while the T.H. Rogers School, an alternative K-12 school for gifted and talented students, deaf students, and multiply impaired students, is nearby Briargrove.

The Briargrove Park Center is located in Briargrove. The Houston Business Journal said that the park was “[l]ong a favorite with families”. By 2003 several improvements had been added to the pool, playground, tennis, and clubhouse facilities, including a large covered pavilion, fences, new toilet facilities, and sidewalks.

Current market prices for homes in Briargrove are from the $300s up to over $1 million.
